The case for stillness

The Idea

The emerald cut is the most demanding shape to buy well — its long rectangular facets act as mirrors rather than prisms, which means inclusions and colour tints invisible in a brilliant cut are exposed without ceremony. Aurelia selects only stones with the clarity and colour the shape requires, and makes no apologies for the prices that follow.

What makes it unique

The hall-of-mirrors effect that defines an emerald cut comes from its step facets — large, parallel planes that reflect each other. The setting must be architectural: no prong may interrupt the line of the stone, no metalwork may compete with the geometry. Aurelia uses straight-edged four-claw settings with minimal metalwork, in white gold or platinum, so the diamond reads as the primary object.
